Happy New Year Members,
Just a short message to wish you a happy 2019 and to let you know of a couple of professional learning related resources available this month. First of all, we will do a repeat of the CELPIP workshop due to requests from the membership. It will happen on January 24th at 1pm PST (zoom info below). Please register ahead of time if you would like us to send you a participation letter by sending me an e-mail at  This email address is being protected from spambots. The second item is a recent publication by Dr.  Xuemei Li, TESL Canada Board member and TESL NL President. It focuses on Newcomer Integration and TESL, and I believe it may be of great interest to many of us. We thank Dr. Li for sharing this with us and for your work on this relevant special issue. Vol 46, No 1-2 Fall (2018) Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and Newcomer Integration

Finally, I just wanted to let you all know that the TESL Canada Foundation received a very generous donation ($5000) from the estate of the late Barbara Burnaby with a note from a family member thanking  us for the good work that we do. This a very touching and much appreciated gesture on the part of one of our former members and I wanted to share this with you all.
All the best in this last year of yet another decade! Paula Kristmanson, TESL Canada President
